Mind Medicine Room

The Mind Medicine Room

The Mind Medicine Room is a calming mental practice that can help reduce anxiety, support recovery, and enhance self-healing. It works beautifully alongside conventional medicine, and in the case of minor ailments, may even help you manage without it entirely. The more you practise this visualisation, the more effective it becomes.

Step One: Full Body Relaxation

Begin with a deep progressive relaxation. Start at your toes and move upward through each part of your body. Gently tense and release every area until you feel deeply relaxed. Once your entire body is at ease, take three slow, deep breaths.

Step Two: Visualise the Corridor

Now, picture a corridor—not too long. At the end of it, you see a door in a colour of your choice. Your name is printed on the door, and beneath it are the words:

“MIND MEDICINE ROOM”

Only you possess the key to this door. Place the key in the lock, open it, and step inside. Lock the door behind you to create a secure, private space.

Step Three: Create Your Healing Room

Inside is a cosy, personalised room. The walls are lined with shelves, cupboards, and drawers. A large, comfortable armchair sits waiting for you, and in the corner is a small incinerator to burn anything you wish to release.

This room is entirely your own creation. You can redesign it as you wish, remove anything that doesn’t feel right and add elements that support your healing.

On the shelves and inside the cupboards, you’ll find an array of labelled containers: jars, bottles, phials, and boxes filled with potions, creams, tablets, herbal tinctures, even cotton wool—anything you might need for self-care. Choose the colours, shapes, and labels that resonate with you. This is your internal apothecary.

If you’re not feeling your best, your inner clarity may be foggy, so visit this room often when you’re well, and clearly label your healing supplies in your mind. For example:

  • A bottle of “Headache Tablets”

  • A jar of “Pep-Up Pills” for energy

  • A dropper of “Calm Drops” for stress relief

Whatever the label says, that’s exactly what’s inside. If you need something new, simply create it. Engage your senses, imagine touching the jars, smelling the herbs, seeing the colours.

Step Four: Apply the Medicine

Let’s imagine you have a painful, inflamed knee. Go to the jar labelled “Antiseptic Cream”, unscrew the lid, and gently apply the cream to your knee. Watch as it turns red, drawing out the inflammation. Use cotton wool to wipe it away, and toss the used cotton into the incinerator.

Repeat this process, apply, observe, wipe, burn until the cream no longer changes colour. Leave a layer of cream on the knee to continue healing.

Now, tidy up: replace all lids, clean the surfaces, and return everything to its place. Settle into the armchair and rest, knowing your body has begun the healing process. You have triggered the release of helpful chemicals and energy your body needs.

Step Five: Return to Waking Life

When you feel rested, unlock the door, step out of the Mind Medicine Room, and return to your day. If you’re doing this in bed, allow yourself to drift into sleep.

Why This Works

This practice helps your body tap into its natural ability to self-regulate and heal. Over time, you may find you need fewer doctor visits and become more resilient in managing stress, panic, or even minor physical issues. For instance, in moments of heart palpitations or anxiety, this inner first-aid kit can help restore calm and control.

The key to success? Practice regularly, especially when you’re well. The more familiar you become with your Mind Medicine Room, the more automatic and effective it becomes when you truly need it.

Teach this practice to your children. It can help them grow into healthy, empowered, and self-aware individuals.

Above all, enjoy the process.
It might just change your life.
